Privacy notice
This website
You can read this website and listen to sermons without giving us any personal information. The site does not use cookies, tracking or advertising, and does not run analytics.
Like any web server, ours briefly records technical details of each visit (such as your IP address and the page requested) to keep the site secure and working. We don't use these to identify you.
Our members' app
Church members and serving volunteers use a private, password-protected app to run church life. It holds the information needed for that, such as:
- names, contact details, birthdays and family groupings of members;
- which ministries people serve in and serving rosters;
- for Sunday School: children's names, dates of birth, relevant allergies or medical notes, a parent or guardian's contact details, signed parental consent forms, and attendance;
- church finances, including records needed for donations.
We collect this from members themselves or, for children, from their parent or guardian. We use it only for the life and administration of the church: keeping in touch, caring for people, organising services and teams, keeping children safe, and meeting our legal and financial obligations.
Who can see it
Access is limited to what each role needs. For example, children's details are visible only to church administrators and the Sunday School team, and finances only to those who handle them. We don't sell or share personal information with anyone outside the church, except where the law requires it.
How we protect it
The app is only reachable over an encrypted connection, requires each person to sign in, and records who accessed sensitive records. Our data is stored on a server in a secure data centre, and encrypted backups are kept so it isn't lost.
How long we keep it
We keep information only while it is needed: for example while someone is part of the church or a child attends Sunday School, and financial records for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask to see the information we hold about you (or your child), ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how it is used. Please contact us at admin@cragsfamilychurch.co.za or +27 82 900 4169.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.
